Some movies have the power to draw in viewers from different genres. Whether this is intentional or not, it’s clear that these films are so incredible they can appeal across borders and interests without trying too hard. I have friends that are completely bored by superhero movies, but they love Thor: Ragnarok. And there are some people who would swear that action movies are beneath them, but they love Point Break. Point Break is a film that was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and it had a budget of $25 million. The box office return for this movie was $83.5 million. So where is the Point Break cast of this film now?
Well, it’s not like we all don’t know what Johnny Utah is up to these days. John Wick has been one of the most successful action film franchises in recent years, and he’s getting tons more featured roles on top projects. The Matrix 4 is finally out, and he had a new Bill & Ted movie. The man seems to be doing just fine by all accounts – couldn’t happen to someone better!
When you watch Point Break, it’s hard not to be amazed by the incredible chemistry between its cast. The chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze’s character is what makes this movie so great. Swayze’s career was variegated, not leaning too much into the ’80s heartthrob he became known for.
Swayze did great work in many different roles. From his comedic turn in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, to the trucker with a troubled past in Black Dog to his underrated role in Donnie Darko as Jim Cunningham.
The actor behind the role of Angelo Pappas is probably known for his wild ways off-screen, but there are more than a few examples where you can see how this actor knows what he’s doing. His speech about Prince Henry Stout in Surviving the Game is incredible and his turn as a meatball-sub loving detective in Point Break worked. Gary Busey isn’t the first person that comes to mind when we think of an archetypal elder mentor cop, but he rocks this role perfectly. He’s done voice-acting work and appeared in a series of on-screen projects.
LeGros is an actor with a steady line of work and collaborating directors such as David Fincher (Zodiac), Kathryn Bigelow, again in Near Dark. He’s had an amazing career. Playing as Roach, he starred alongside Guy Pearce and Kate Winslet in the HBO Miniseries Mildred Pierce.
Kiedis’s most notable role in Point Break is when he says “that would be a waste of time” and then gets his foot blown off. His band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold their catalog for a reported $140 million dollars to Hipgnosis.
Before having the role of Tyler Endicott in Point Break, Petty had a few TV credits and a single film role in Cadillac Man. She’s had an extensive career, from A League of Their Own to Free Willy. She was even in In the Army Now and Tank Girl. Her work has continuously landed her roles in various films and TV shows, like Star Trek: Voyager, Prison Break, and Gotham.
John C. McGinley
From his portrayal as Ben Harp in Utah, McGinley has had an excellent career full of memorable roles. He’s been in a bunch of high-profile projects, like Scrubs, Se7en, The Rock, Get Carter, Wild Hogs, Burn Notice, Ground Floor, and a ton of other high-profile projects.
