Mother Captures Her 9-Year-Old Son With Cerebral Palsy Reacting To National Anthem On TV

When a Michigan mother recently posted a video of her 9-year-old son, Logan, trying to stand for the national anthem., it quickly went viral for one reason – her son has cerebral palsy.

Logan cannot get around normally and needs the assistance of various medical accessories to help him get around. If he does not have them, he’s forced to crawl around the house. Wilson said despite his lack of movement, Logan still loves sports and the national anthem.

The family recorded the beginning of the game on their DVR. Wilson noticed her son trying to stand for the national anthem while using the couch to brace himself and continued to try over and over again.

“He always takes off his hat,” Wilson said. “but until yesterday I never really saw him try to stand. He just knew that is what we do to show respect to our country and everyone who fights so hard for us. He is truly just an amazing kid just doing what he loves.”

Wilson wrote a Facebook post saying, “Even my 9-year-old with CP (Who cannot walk) knows you are supposed to stand up during the national anthem… He loves it!”

Wilson admitted that the comment was directed at the athletes who did not stand for the national anthem. However, she also stated that she believes everyone has the right to an opinion on the matter. “In my opinion, I believe they are not only disrespecting their own country, a country that affords them the right to do what they did but also disrespecting all the people who fight for this country. I do not disagree with their reasons for doing what they did; I disagree with the actions they took.” Wilson said.
