While On A Plane, Stranger Takes Crying Baby From Pregnant Mom And Comforts Him

When Southwest Airlines passenger, Monica Nelson, boarded a flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta with her 20-month old son, Luke, he started to get cranky. That’s when an amazing stranger stepped up to the plate and comforted a child the entire flight.

Nelson is also pregnant with her second child, and she was nervous to travel without her husband by her side.

Rather than sit back and watch this expecting mother struggle, Reid, a fellow passenger, stepped in and offered some relief.  He walked up and down the aisle most of the flight, comforting and calming the child as if he was his own.

Monica was amazed by his compassionate actions.

“He just kind of swooped in,” she recalled, “You usually don’t see things like that. It was so sweet.”

However, Monica wasn’t the only one moved by Reid’s actions.

Fellow passengers were in awe as they watched Reid cradle the baby. Another passenger, Andrea Byrd, stated, “I was in tears…not because he was white and she was black…but because it showed me today that there are still GOOD people out there in a world full of turmoil.”  Byrd posted a photo of Reid on Facebook, seen below, which has since received over 130,000 shares.

Passengers stated, “It was so uplifting.”  Reid said that he stepped in because he’s a dad and understood how overwhelming traveling with a young child is. Coincidentally, Reid’s biological son is also named Luke.

Monica Nelson reflects on her experience, “I’m still very grateful. He was so kind.”
